Chelmsford Museum

Oaklands park

Chelmsford is host to Forty thousands of Scouts from all over the world, coming to the 21st World Scout Jamboree as part of the celebrations of 100 years of the Scouting Movement.

Chelmsford Museum will also celebrate with a special exhibition showing how Scouting has developed over that 100 years, from the vision of its founder, through the traditional activities in fields and woods, through to the exciting, inclusive and activity filled youth organisation of today.

The exhibition will feature original sketches and a message from Robert Baden-Powell, soldier, spy, artist and world visionary. Also shown will be items of uniform, camp equipment and souvenirs of all eras, including the famous “trek cart” for carrying kit to camp.

Come and see how the youngsters of Essex have had fun and fulfilled their Scouting promise.
